Revive and Thrive is a small scale puppetry show devised, directed, designed and made by myself and Nancy Tait. The story follows a man whose life is drab and consumed by grief after the loss of a loved one. He orders a product from a tv advert that promises to make everything in your life revive and thrive. As he tests it within his home, everything starts to get a little out of hand…
The show was devised and made over a period of six weeks and performed in the S4C studio in RWCMD Cardiff. We worked with lighting and sound designers to create an immersive, detailed visual world.
It explores the importance of humour within grief, with a focus on storytelling through movement, sound and lighting to aim for a show that is accessible and enjoyable to all.
Sustainability was central to the devising and making approach. All puppets were built predominantly using scrap store fabrics, reclaimed upholstery foam and water piping. All set pieces and costume were sourced second hand, locally where possible.
